Ambulatory Specialty Outpatient Experience
New Brunswick Program
Three weeks of elective clinical experience performed in an outpatient office setting are required during the fourth (or third) year. To meet the requirement for this ambulatory experience, a student must spend at least 80% of their time in an outpatient setting. The electives are subject to change throughout the year.
Please refer to the Web site for the most recent listing. Away electives may be used to fulfill this requirement. However, a written description of the elective provided by the course director must be submitted to and approved by the Office of Student Affairs to confirm that it meets the Ambulatory Specialty criteria.
The following electives will fill the requirement for the required outpatient course*:

If a student identifies an elective that he/she feels meet the criteria for the outpatient course (i.e. the overall experience must be at least 80% outpatient) either within the RWJMS system or at another medical school, that elective may be approved by one of the Student Affairs or Education Deans given the appropriate documentation.
