Biochemical Basis of Nutrition

BIOC 6001

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide second year medical students with basic nutritional information and to motivate them to think about nutrition and how it applies to their own lives and the lives of their families and patients. Students are given experience with dietary analysis tools to help them analyze nutrient compositions and apply critical thinking to diets. This course covers macronutrients and micronutrients and their deficiencies, obesity, nutrition throughout the life cycle, sports nutrition, and nutritional genomics.
