Undergraduate Summer Research

Undergraduates have many opportunities to participate in individual mentored research on this campus, which is shared by RWJMS and Rutgers University. Students work in the laboratories of carefully matched faculty mentors, and enhance their scientific and professional training through enrichment activities including GRE preparation, career counseling, graduate school admissions workshops, and intensive work on scientific writing and speaking.

Applicants should have completed at least one year of college, have strong academic credentials, and be interested in scientific careers. Students from underrepresented, non-traditional backgrounds or first-generation college are encouraged to apply.

RISE (Research In Science and Engineering) at Rutgers/UMDNJ GSBS at RWJMS
RISE, a joint initiative of the GSBS at RWJMS and the Rutgers Graduate School-New Brunswick, provides cutting edge research opportunities in the biomedical and physical sciences, engineering, and exciting interdisciplinary areas for students from diverse backgrounds.

Neuroscience Undergraduate Summer Research
The Neuroscience Undergraduate Summer Research Program places students in laboratories to develop and complete their own neuroscience research projects.

CURE (Continuing Umbrella for Research Experience) Program
The CURE program, with the support of National Cancer Institute and Johnson & Johnson, provides research training and academic and professional enrichment activities for highly motivated local underserved students (high school and undergraduate).

Johnson & Johnson Undergraduate Research Scholars Program at CABM
With funding from Johnson & Johnson, undergraduate students receive stipends to perform research in CABM laboratories during the summer. Scholars receive training and mentoring in individual laboratories, meet weekly as a group to discuss their research projects and to learn about research challenges and career opportunities.
