IHIG ElectivesThe IHIG Elective consists of approx. 10 events over two semesters, with speakers who have worked in various capacities in global health. The goal is to inform the student body about current issues in global health, the politics involved in international health work, and information sessions on how and why to use summer elective rotations to do work internationally. Elective credit is earned by attending at least 5 out of 7 lectures, and participation in at least 1 of 2 student-led presentations. Past lecture topics have included health and human rights in Sudan, Mexico border/immigration health, universal health care in Bolivia, and personal accounts given by physicians and students who have practiced abroad. |
