Annual Tuition Rates for the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Academic Year 2008-2009
Note: For all grant applications, project an increase of 4% per year in the above expenses. Fringe Benefits Full-time employees or part-time employees making more than $5,000: 36.05% of requested salary. Postdoctoral Fellows - 8% of salary plus $2,796/year for health insurance. Note: $6,396/year is the cost of health insurance for the postdoc and one dependent; $8,124 is the cost of health insurance for the postdoc and two or more dependents. Each of these amounts should be increased by $53 for the postdoc's life insurance. (Some NIH institutes may only fund an individual's health insurance, not family coverage.) Graduate students or part-time employees making less than $5,000: 8% of requested salary. Budgets supporting graduate students should include the student health insurance fee ($1,967/year) and student clinic ($300/year) in addition to the $26,500 annual stipend amount. These figures should be increased by 4% in each successive year. Non-salary annual increases: 4% on non-salary expenses; 5% over current rates for research animal facility charges Modified Total Direct Cost (MTDC) base excludes equipment, patient care costs, student tuition, and the amount over the first $25,000 on each subcontract. The salary used for NIH grants should be the academic base (do not include the faculty practice component) and it should be increased by 4% each year. The maximum salary is currently $196,700 for NIH grants. Indirect Costs/Facilities and Administrative Costs Federal Negotiated Rate applicable to all federally sponsored research grants, contracts and other agreements (DHHS Agreement Dated: October 19, 2006). All rates apply to direct costs not including equipment or patient care costs.
Fees and Charges Related to Industry Support When negotiating with industry, faculty are expected to negotiate for full indirect cost recovery. Industry Support: 25% (minimum) Institutional Review Board Fees Initial review: $2,500.00 Continuing review: $750.00 Changes to Research (each site): $250.00 (Changes include additions to the study, modifications/amendment, new or updated recruitment materials/advertisements, translations) AAALAC Accreditation The most recent AAALAC accreditation date is March 4, 2009.
